Backpack No. 1 with leather details

This tutorial is for a simple drawstring backpack with leather details. Piping gives the flap structure and leather is used for the flap closure and the adjustable shoulder straps.

This tutorial is for intermediate and advanced sewers.

You can use a sturdy cotton fabric like canvas for this backpack. The tutorial includes more information on materials.

Materials you need at home:

  • Canvas fabric, at a fabric width of 160cm, {110cm}, ~ 0,6 m; {~0,8 m}, Canvas, sturdy cotton or linen, upholstery fabric
  • leather, ca. 15cm x 28cm, nappa or other leather that can be sewn on your home sewing machine
  • straps
  • eyelets or grommets, cording, buckles, tabs
  • bias tape
