Description
I always have peppers on my shopping list as they are so versatile, and I love their traffic light colours! Knitted veggies are super toys to encourage little ones to eat veg and greens, or you can use them as decorative items in your home. I have been working on a box of different vegetables, and if you are new to making knitted toys these make an easy introduction to the craft as they don’t have lots of pieces to sew together. My knitted veggies are worked flat on straight knitting needles, but most pieces could easily be converted to knitting in the round if that is your preference. Each finished pepper is approximately 8cm wide x 10cm tall (including stalk). You will need to know how to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew seams.
Materials you need at home:
- A pair of straight 2.75mm knitting needles (US 2)
- A few handfuls of toy filling
- DK yarn (double knitting or light worsted weight)
- Toy safety eyes
