Cardigans are among the essentials of any wardrobe. The cardigan JUJUR will be a faithful, warming companion during cold winters and mild summer evenings! This cardigan simply suits every season. It's comfortable and can be perfectly combined: Elegant from fine knit or casual from coarse knit!
The pattern JUJUR convinces with a trendy design - beautifully feminine with a deep V-neck, casually cut and with wide sleeves, as a cheeky cropped version or classic long version. And the best: JUJUR is a year-round companion and a perfect combination piece - very versatile as it adjusts to whatever you're in the mood for. Alternatively, you can do it like some of our test sewers and not only sew one cardigan but two or maybe even three in one go? In any case, we wish you a lot of fun with this all-time favorite garment!
JUJUR is a great name in our opinion. It's Indonesian and translates into "honest". To be honest, could there be a more fitting name? :-)
Most knit fabrics are not difficult to work with! Sure, there are a few things to keep in mind, but we guarantee to make it easy for you. With these step-by-step instructions, even sewing beginners with a little courage and patience can make their way to their JUJUR cardigan - with or without buttons. Are you in?
Stretchy knit fabrics with a beautiful drape are best suited for the JUJUR jacket. Depending on whether you use a noble fine knit, a casual coarse knit or a jacquard knit, the jacket always looks different. JUJUR also works well with French Terry.
Stabilization for knitted fabrics
It's especially important to stabilize edges and hems of knitted fabrics. Otherwise the shoulder will lose shape, the sleeve will become longer and longer, or the hem will become wider and floppier.
But how? The best method is to use iron-on interfacing that is suitable for stretch fabrics. They are already available as a practical tape that you can simply iron onto edges such as shoulders, armholes or hems. This makes the seam more stable and the garment retains its shape. It is also much easier to work with.
For edges such as shoulder, armholes and neckline, a flexible fusible web seam tape is particularly suitable. For the hem you can look for interfacing designed especially for hems. This way you don't even have to sew the hem.
For JUJUR you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffers):
Sizes XS, S, M, L = 1.60 m Sizes XL, XXL, XXXL = 2.40 m
For the cropped version you can calculate 30 cm less fabric in each case.
You'll also need: 1 m slightly elastic interfacing, 1 cm wide, or seam tape to reinforce the edges and hems If applicable, buttons, snaps or hook closures
