              This intricate lace and cables tam was one of the patterns from the 2011 Mystery KAL. Reminiscent of feathers or flames, the cables work their way through the lace and integrate in the crown shaping.

              Pattern is fully charted and is provided in 3 sizes. This tam could easily be made slouchier, but you will likely need more yarn.

              Skills required: 
Knit & purl sts, knitting in the round, increases & decreases, specialist cast-on, lace

              Gauge:
 24 sts x 30 rows to 4in/10cm on 3.25mm needles over St.St. 
 26 sts x 40 rows to 4in/10cm on 3mm needles over Twisted Rib, lightly stretched

              • 153 (171, 227) yd/141 (156, 208) m sport weight, plied yarn (Sample shown in Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca (255yd/233m per 100g; 100% Alpaca))

              • 29yd/26m yarn for a 6x6in/15x15cm swatch in St.St.

              • Set 3mm/UK11/US2½ & 3.25mm/UK10/US3
              • DPNs/Circular or size needed to obtain gauge
