Materials you need at home:
  • 1.55m (1 3/4 yards) of gold mottled fabric
  • 95cm (1 yard) of solid cream fabric
  • 45cm (1/2 yard) each of (2) blue-on-blue print fabrics
  • 30cm (3/8 yard) of solid dark blue fabric
  • 50cm (5/8 yard) total each of assorted red and blue print fabrics
  • 10cm (3in) each of (8) assorted dark small print fabrics (I’ve used purple, red, and black & cream spot fabrics)
  • 15cm (5in) each of purple and green small print fabrics
  • 1.85m (2 yards) of red small print fabric for the borders and binding
  • 55cm (5/8 yard) of brown mottled fabric for the horses
  • (1) fat eighth each of (2) solid gold, (1) black small print, and (1) solid rust-brown fabric for the cowboy hats, horseshoes and sheriff’s badges
  • Assorted fabric scraps in brown, red, blue and gold for the applique
  • (6) pairs of small black buttons for the horse’s eyes
  • (6) sets of 10 tiny buttons for the horseshoes (optional)
  • Quantity of lightweight fusible webbing
  • Matching thread to suit your favourite applique stitching method
  • Black stranded embroidery thread for the horse’s features
  • A piece of wadding (batting) measuring at least 70 1/2in x 94 1/2in
  • 4.8m (5 1/4 yards) of 42in wide co-ordinating fabric for the backing
