This beautiful top-down knitted shawl is named after the home of the Hobbits in Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The lacy flowers represent the Hobbits’ love of all that grows, the feather and fan stitch finish represents the smooth and gentle little hills which are characteristic for The Shire. The half-circled shape is achieved through increases in regular intervals. You will need some stitchmarkers to mark the position of the increases in the center section.
The shawl can be worked in many yarn weights. If worked in thicker yarn it could be a warming winter shawl. For a light and lofty shawl, the chosen yarn should not be thicker than fingering weight.
The size is about 170 x 52 cm approx according to the used yarn, the yardage will be between 600 and 800 meters approx.
You are free to work some troddens at the end of the shawl but as this is only an idea I will not describe how to work this in the pattern.

Hi, my name is Michaela, and I live in Germany in Lower Saxony with my husband and my dog Flocke.
I knit and crochet almost my whole live. I was 6 years old when my mom taught me the first stitches and I feel like I have never put the needles aside.
I love to create new looks, I love to see how a knitted or crocheted piece grows with the teamwork of the yarn and my fingers. I want to share my creativity with other knit or chrochet addicted and that is why I create patterns.
All my designs are easy to intermediate to knit or crochet, all patterns are written clearly and easily understandable. They all are tried and tested and the translations are proof-read by a native speaker.
