This wonderful shawl is dedicated to the most beautiful of all elves in Tolkiens „Lord Of The Rings“, Galadriel.

It is a rectangular shawl knit from a central provisional cast-on to both directions. The shawl is topped off with a wonderful leaf-edging. Little integrated beads at the ends are a special highlight.

Knit this amazing shawl in an ivory color and it can be the highlight to a wedding dress, or in an elegant black or burgundy the perfect eye-catching accessory to an evening dress. The used yarn is 3-ply, though lace-weight or fingering-weight yarns are also possible. I would advise against using anything thicker than 4-ply because it could destroy the light and lofty effect of the pattern

The finished size is approx. 185 x 60 cm, the yardage is approx 726 meters.

The pattern contains no complicated stitches, but I assume the basics of knitting techniques. You need a provisional cast-on, which is explained in the pattern. Inserting beads is explained as well.

              Contains:

              • 9 pages pattern
              • charts
              • written pattern *schematic
              • skill level: intermediate

              Materials you need at home:

              • approx 700 - 800 meters [765 - 874 yds] of 2 - 4ply yarn (it should not be thicker in order not to lose the light and lofty character of the shawl)
              • beads (e.g. rocailles)
              • a piece of very thin wire or dental floss
              • waste yarn for the provisional cast-on
              • knitting needles size 2,5 - 4 mm (US 2 - 6)
              • crochet hook size 3,5 - 4 mm (US 4 - 6)
              • sewing needle
              • scissors

              Woolness Designs

Hi, my name is Michaela, and I live in Germany in Lower Saxony with my husband and my dog Flocke.

I knit and crochet almost my whole live. I was 6 years old when my mom taught me the first stitches and I feel like I have never put the needles aside.

I love to create new looks, I love to see how a knitted or crocheted piece grows with the teamwork of the yarn and my fingers. I want to share my creativity with other knit or chrochet addicted and that is why I create patterns.

All my designs are easy to intermediate to knit or crochet, all patterns are written clearly and easily understandable. They all are tried and tested and the translations are proof-read by a native speaker.
