This loose fit, slouchy 8ply Beanie is worked in a four row cable pattern and the brim is worked in rib. The crown shaping rows are written out for you, to ensure the pattern continues to follow up. With just four rows to the cable pattern, this is a great introduction for anyone new to knitting cables.

If you like these cables but prefer a firmer fitting beanie, please see my Sally pattern.

Pattern sizes: Age 2-5 yrs, 6-10 yrs, Teen, Lady and Man.

          To fit head: 52 (54-55-56-59) cm [20½ (21¼-21¾-22-23) ins].

Tension: 29 sts and 29 rows to 10cm [4 ins] over cable patt, using 4.00mm needles.

          Pattern rating: Intermediate.

The cable and rib pattern in this beanie matches my lady’s cable and rib jacket, ‘Connie’.

Please note that this pattern is protected by copyright and you do not have permission to copy or resell this pattern. You may, however, sell the knitted product.

          Jennifer Lee

I have been addicted to knitting for over 35 years (I started very young!) and I love being able to take a ball of yarn and a pair of needles and make something gorgeous and individual yet practical.

As a child I designed and knitted clothes for my toy elephants (elephants are my other obsession), during high school I knitted baby clothes and sold them at local craft markets then during my university days I knitted for a local yarn shop. While knitting was my passion, at that stage I never thought of making it my career.

After spending 10 years in the medical profession I came across a job ad for a knitting pattern design writer and suddenly I realised it was possible to combine my passion with my work. I was lucky enough to get that job and I have been working as a pattern writer, pattern designer and proofreader ever since.

As well as creating my own designs, I continue to work for yarn companies in Australia and overseas.

Along with my love of knitting, I hold Diplomas in both Comprehensive Writing and Professional Book Editing, Proofreading and Publishing.

I love what I do and I hope you will enjoy knitting my patterns as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
