Materials you need at home:
  • 35cm (3/8 yard) each of solid soft green, orange-on-orange stripe, and light cream-on cream fabrics for the background blocks, Pinwheel blocks and applique
  • 65cm (3/4 yard) of blue-on-blue small check fabric for the background blocks
  • 45cm (1/2 yard) of yellow-on-yellow small check fabric for the background blocks and Pinwheel blocks
  • 55cm (5/8 yard) of linen coloured fabric for the background blocks and
  • Pinwheel blocks
  • 25cm (1/4 yard) each of cream-on-cream small check and charcoal & white spot fabrics for the Pinwheel blocks and applique
  • 15cm (1/8 yard) each of large orange & blue spot, large cream & green spot, and soft red & cream small check fabrics for the Pinwheel blocks
  • A 10cm x 20cm (4in x 8in) rectangle in each of (10) orange, (8) green, and (14) blue fabrics for the Pinwheel blocks
  • A 25cm (9in) square in each of (1) blue, (1) brown, (2) orange, and (1) dark orange fabrics for the flowers
  • A 16cm (6in) square in each of blue spot, red & cream small check, green-on-green small check, and blue medium check for the centre of the flowers
  • A 12in (30cm) square in each of (5) brown, (6) orange, and (5) blue fabrics for the foxes
  • Scraps of green, blue, grey, brown, and orange fabrics in a variety of prints to supplement the applique
  • (11) pairs of medium-sized buttons for their eyes
  • 45cm (1/2 yard) of orange-on-orange spot fabric for the binding
  • Quantity of lightweight fusible webbing
  • Matching thread to suit your favourite applique stitching method
  • A piece of wadding (batting) measuring at least 66 1/2in square
  • 3.4m (3 3/4 yards) of 42in wide coordinating backing fabric
  • General sewing supplies
  • Supplement the fabrics in the requirements list with fabrics from your stash to add visual interest to your quilt.
  • I like to use buttons on my quilts but they aren’t suitable for children under three (3) years of age due to them being a choking hazard. Replace the buttons with appliqué or embroidery when you are making the quilt.
