- A cable needle, approx. 6.5mm.
- 6 (6, 8, 8) 11mm/ 3/8in buttons for eyes on the front of the poncho. If you want eyes on the back as well, then double this amount.
- A large/tapestry needle to sew the ends in.
- A thinner needle and matching cotton to sew the buttons on.
A warm, chunky, owl poncho to wrap up in for that walk by the sea. Moss stitch (USA seed stitch) edges, garter stitch body and owls all come together for a cosy and fashionable knit.
The pattern is intermediate, as you will need to know how to cast/bind on and off, knit and purl stitches and very simple cabling. Chunky/bulky yarn makes for a fashionable look and fast knit. There are photos to help with sewing it up and a schematic of the poncho, so you can visualise how it's knitted. The pattern is 7 pages long.
There are 4 sizes - 4-6yrs, 7-10yrs, teen/adult and large adult. Yarn recommendations are given, but most chunky/bulky yarns should be fine, as slight variations of size on a poncho aren't so important.
A great spring or autumn cover-up, or even just right for a cooler summer's eve. Just right for that barbecue, festival or walk by the sea!

The Lonely Sea - Heather Corcoran
I have a bag that say ' I knit therefore I am' - sums me up perfectly! I love to knit and love to design! I have knitted for years, and made and sold literally hundreds of owl gloves and fingerless mitts on-line. About 8 years ago, I decided to give designing and writing patterns a go, and I absolutely love it! The whole process is absolutely captivating, and I love to see other knitters' projects made from my patterns. My beautiful cavvy, Honey, is my constant companion, and she sleeps next to me on the settee while I knit. You can also find me on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/thelonelyseapatterns/
