No matter how many elaborate, sophisticated and fancy clothes you've already sewn that earned you many compliments - a simple, quickly sewn pattern is still unbeatable. Not pondering too long, cutting the pieces in no time, sitting down at the machine and being done in a heartbeat! That way sewing is really fun :-)
The raglan shirt SAMA belongs exactly in the category of sewn in no time as well as incredibly nice and cozy. It does not matter which variant you prefer.
You can sew the raglan shirt SAMA - which, by the way, is available for the whole family - as a very simple version with round neck and topstitched hem. The more sporty version with sleeve and hem cuffs is also great. In addition, the women's version with a V-neckline is a particularly eye-catching feature. By the way, SAMA is available for ladies with two waistlines. Not at all easy to decide which variants to sew, is it? A little tip: We recommend sewing all of them.
SAMA is Indonesian and translates into "same". Since SAMA can be worn by all family members - from small to big ones - we thought the name was very fitting.
The raglan shirt SAMA is truly an easy one to sew - thus definitely perfect for beginners. And if you're still a little insecure, we guarantee you'll be able to rely on our step-by-step instructions. Promise! So grab the machine and conjure up one, two or three variations? You can certainly not get enough of SAMA :-)
Fabric recommendations:
Stretchy fabrics such as jersey, knit fabrics and French Terry are best suited for the raglan shirt SAMA. In the case of sweatshirt fabrics pay attention to their elasticity properties. With the wrong fabric the sleeves could eventually become too tight. Thin jerseys and viscose jerseys are recommended especially for the summer months.
Fabric consumption:
For the shirt SAMA you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffers):
Version without cuff Sizes XS - M 1.70 cm Sizes L - XL 1.75 cm Sizes XXL - XXXL 1.80 cm
Version with sleeve and hem cuffs Sizes XS - M 2.00 cm Sizes L - XL 2.05 cm Sizes XXL - XXXL 2.10 cm
Additional material
If you want to sew the version with a V-neck, you will need a bit of fusible web to reinforce the tip. Alternatively, you can also use so-called Wonder Dots.
You can also use cuff fabric for the version with cuffs if you don't want to sew them out of the same fabric.
