Take gauge for Zigzag pattern before and after washing and blocking your swatch to properly check length of work in progress. Row counts within Zigzag pattern are specified throughout, but will not produce the desired length if your row gauge does not match the pattern gauge. It is essential to know both your pre-blocking and post-blocking row gauge. Work a large swatch to ensure accurate gauge. You may need to adjust the number of rows that you work to achieve the post-blocking lengths given in the pattern.
