Style description:

With added flare to a humble sweatshirt, the Lia top can be both a part of your relaxed look for the days out or comfy loungewear suitable for your days at home. Variations A and C have a wide ribbing neckline set on a deep V cut on the front, while Variations B and D feature a high stand-up neckline that softly drapes on the front like a cowl. You can leave this neckline raw at the edge, as most knit fabrics create a beautifully curled finish. Lia has dropped shoulders and loose fit which is gathered with ribbing at the hem on the high hip level. You can make it either long-sleeved with ribbed cuffs or sleeveless versions with dropped shoulders, which are also finished with narrow ribbing. Pair with Drew sweatpants/joggers in the same colour for a solid relaxed look.

FABRIC RECOMMENDATION

Light, medium or even heavy knit fabrics for the self. High neck Variations must be made in sturdy knit such as sweatshirting, medium ponte roma and french terry, to hold the shape of the stand-up collar. If the self-fabric has a good amount of stretch (at least 40%), then you can cut the ribbing pieces in the self-fabric too. Otherwise, you need separate ribbing fabric for the sleeve cuffs and hem.

Skill level:

Confident Beginner. The V neckline area may be a challenge but you get step by step instructions with diagrams. Also, there are many tutorials you can find on how to sew such necklines.

Measurements and Seam allowances:

This pattern includes measurements in Metric and Imperial systems in all files. Seam allowances are 1cm (3/8") for all seams unless marked otherwise on the pattern for the particular seam or hem.
