An elegant and classic design that mixes Shetland stitches with a garter stitch.
Its charm lies in its lace border in Shetland stitch enhanced by a strip in openwork stitch. The warmth is provided by the density of the garter stitch.
It is a small shawl designed to wrap around the shoulders and embellish your outfit ... To keep it in place you can use a brooch or a pin ... or tie it for the larger size.
It is made in one piece and without sewing, but is knitted in 3 steps.
The lace border is knitted vertically, then you progress horizontally by pick up the stitches along the edge of the lace border ... the shawl is made by progressing in shortened rows (technique detailed in a step by step photos in the appendix of the explanation).
The model is made in quality Mérinos alpaga of Phildar with needles 3 ½ mm in garter stitch and stocking stitch.
The tension/gauge : 23 stitches and 46 rows in garter stitch = 10 cm (= 4" x 4 ").
You can knit this model in other qualities with the gauge same.
