*Suitable for advanced beginner or intermediate skill level.
Materials you need at home:
3/8 yard of FABRIC A (bottom shell, top of head and legs, tail)
3/4 yard of FABRIC B (center hexagon, underside of head and legs, ruffle) Note: This is for a pieced ruffle. You can also cut the ruffle in one piece (53 inches long), but this will require extra yardage.
1 (5 X 7 ½) inch piece EACH of SIX OTHER FABRICS (curved shell pieces)
*Optional for single fabric top shell: 13 X 13 inch piece of fabric
*Two ¾- 1 inch buttons for eyes *Optional: two smaller buttons for layered eyes. (For the turtle shown, I used two 1 inch buttons and two ¾ inch buttons.) *Embroidery thread for mouth & nose (I used DMC #5 Coton Perle) *Sewing thread to match fabric *Fiberfill *Scissors *Sewing needles and pins (a long needle is helpful to sew on buttons) *Sewing machine
Create your own turtle pillow with this versatile pattern! Choose from either a pieced top shell or a single fabric shell. Both look great! Make one with a great home decorating print, soft fleece, or those wonderful quilting fabrics you have stashed away!
Finished size measures approximately 16-17 inches across the shell, including ruffle, and 22-23 inches from top of head to tip of tail, the perfect size to add a bit of charm and comfort to a bed, couch or chair. Also wonderful in a child's room!
Original pattern includes list of materials needed & full sized pattern pieces. Some sewing experience is recommended, but lots of detailed instructions and step by step photos are included to make the pattern achievable for all sewing levels.
