I have been experimenting with different methods for knitting circles, and one of my experiments resulted in my Vinyl Disc Coaster. This pattern uses the long tail cast on, as I found this was the best cast on method for getting the coaster to lie flat. I embroidered the grey details on to the coaster after knitting to highlight the grooves. The coaster is knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight single-pointed knitting needles and a little seaming to finish is required. You will also need to knit and work k2tog decreases. The finished coaster is 10 cm diameter. This would make a super gift for music and vinyl lovers, and I hope you enjoy making it.
