Description

This wonderful beret uses bias knitting techniques, combining fine cables and eyelet panels to create this striking effect.

The panels gently swirl around the body of the Hat and meet at the crown, where the shaping is hidden in the stitch pattern.

Skills required:
 Knit & purl sts, knitting in the round, increases & decreases, specialist cast-on, cables, I-cords

Gauge: 
20 sts x 26 rows to 4in/10cm on 4mm needles over St.St. 
 24 sts x 30 rows to 4in/10cm on 4mm needles over Cable pattern (blocked open)

Materials you need at home:
  • 140 (163, 188) yd/128 (149, 173) m worsted weight, plied yarn (Sample shown in Cascade 220 (220yd/201m per 100g; 100% Peruvian Wool))
  • 30yd/28m yarn for a 6x6in/15x15cm swatch in St.St.

  • Set 4mm/UK8/US6 DPNs/Circular or size needed to obtain gauge

  • Stitch marker as necessary

  • Tapestry needle
