For founders Axel Heinz (formerly at DaWanda and Ebay) and Amber Riedl (creator of the webzine "1001 Hochzeiten"), Makerist is an initiative that comes from the heart. They brought their passion for manual work, films, the internet and craft companies together and decided to test if it was possible to reach a creative community via Facebook. Setting up a Sewing Cafe and Knitting Cafe Facebook pages soon proved that the idea could go much further than this simple test project. Huge numbers of people flocked to the Facebook groups talking about crafts, patterns, tutorials and courses and the two founders, quite naturally, answered their requests for a Digital DIY Community by setting up Makerist.

Makerist is the European leader in the DIY ** online market, specializing in sewing, knitting, crochet and plotter. At Makerist, beginners and experts regularly find new tutorials and PDF templates available for immediate download. Founded in 2013 the Berlin start-up has established itself as the leading e-commerce platform for handicraft and now brings together nearly one million users at our three sites (English, French and German).

The Company

Makerist is originally a German site founded in 2013, which launched on the French market at the end of 2015 and in English market in early 2016. Our offices are located in Berlin.
