Description

When the moon kisses the earth, ocean tides are born. This beautiful yarn and simple design combine to bring a cosy shawl, that’s reminiscent of the ebb and flow of moon-kissed waves.

Chunky/bulky yarn and larger needles mean the resulting shawl is fluid and not too thick – perfect for summer evenings or for wearing over your coat in the winter.

177cm/70in wide and 51cm/20in deep.

Any chunky/bulky yarn could be used, but results may vary. (Variations in thickness/size are not so important for shawls.) It is knitted on a circular needle, working back and forth. Instructions are in English, with British/American terms, written line by line. There are photos to help with 'yarn forward' and the making of the optional fringe.

An easy pattern, for the beginner, or for an easier TV knit, or for knitting and nattering.

Matching patterns are available.

Hope you enjoy making this shawl, and thanks for looking!

Materials you need at home:

  • 4 x 50g balls of Bergere De France - Eclair, Colour Tornade 23923 - (105m/115yds each ball.)

If you add a fringe, you will need 1 extra ball, as there is approx. half a ball left from making the shawl. Actual amount used to make the fringe is approx. 110m/120yds, so other yarns may vary, and you may need 2 extra balls.)

(Most chunky/bulky yarns should work well with this pattern, although amounts may vary, the resulting shawl may not be so fluid and please check your tension/gauge – see below).

  • 7mm (UK2 – USA 10.75) a circular needle approx. 100cm or more – use it by working back and forth.

  • A large/tapestry needle.

  • A large crochet hook if adding the fringe.
