What a great way to have a cuppa, with or without friends! A cute owl, sits on a leafy branch, under a crescent moon and starry sky. A fun knit, with lots of daisy stitch and straight stitch embroidery - the end result is like a work of art! A wonderful, central table decoration, that will have your friends complimenting your skills.
The pattern is intermediate - basic knitting skills needed plus - Intarsia, a little Fairisle, simple cabling, duplicate stitch, and simple embroidery – there is a step by step guide with photos to help with assembling the tea cosy. Instructions are in English, written and charted, with British/American terms.
Materials used -
• 1 x 100g ball of Stylecraft Special Aran (196m/214yds each ball) of each of the following colours –
Midnight (1011) – M (Main colour)
Khaki (1027) – A
Silver (1203) - B
Cream (1005) - C Meadow (1065) – D Dark Brown (1004) – E You may have some scrap yarn for the last 2 colours, as they take less than 6m each.
(Other aran/worsted yarns may work well, although amounts may vary and please check your tension/gauge.)
Measurements, to fit teapot - all approx. –
Large. Height 20cm/8in. Circumference 51cm/20in. Cosy measures - up to just under tied ribbon – 20cm/8in. Circumference - 53cm/21in.
Medium. Height 18cm/7in. Circumference 46cm/18in. Cosy measures - up to just under tied ribbon – 18cm/7in. Circumference - 48cm/19in. (The instructions are for a large cosy - how to adapt the pattern for a medium cosy is included.)
