The shrug is worked from the bottom up, in one piece. It starts with provisional cast on of the stitches, then work the curved back with short rows, before making the pleats, and work to the shoulders. Stitches for sleeves are picked up around armholes to work in the round, then all the edges are worked in pleated rib. Not a single seam!
Sizes: 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 years
Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm/4’’ in stockinette stitch, after blocking, with the larger needles.

Yarn & Notions: • 300/350/400/450/500 m / 330/380/440/490/550 yds (Vi)laines Faces-Bleues et Soie Fingering, 50% BFL wool,50% silk (400 m/440 yds/ 100 g) in the col. « Dragées au Mariage » (or any other fingering yarn to get gauge). • Circular needles to get gauge (suggested size: 3.5 mm/US #4). • If you don’t use the magic loop, a set of DPNs in the same size to work the sleeves in the round and 1 DPN or anothercircular to work the boxed pleats. • Circular needles 0.5 mm smaller. • Hook in the same size than the larger needle and scrap yarn for the provisional cast-on. • 1 stitch marker. • Stitch holders.
